It's a transversal trip inside Lucania's young artists
Starting point to develop this project is the idea that a society's development passes trough art also, creativity in all the fields, especially if it comes from young blood. Relating myself with young art in southern Italy I unexpectedly found an extremely wide-ranging and complex reality: from most conceptual and contemporary forms like performance, VJing, electronic music, photography and illustration to ones more rooted to traditions, but re-interpreted in a modern stile, that is all the artistic craft like tuff (tufo) stone, mosaic and potter manufacturing.
In the south there are some of the most extremely "virgin" part of Italy, unknown to the large part of foreign (but also Italian) people; in last years only it starts to be discovered by people, looking for a suitable location for a film production perhaps, or simply to see this "unexplored" country. Exploring it, by car also, everyone can see immediately its large spaces, so lonely. I think this is one of its strong points: its land, its colors, its natural reserves, these are places where people is better are spectators only.
This short premise helps to know better my great interest about artistic expression inside this area; I knew and took pictures of many people, many guys (and they're some of the best young artists in southern Italy) promote their ideas firstly where they was born, trying to change things trough art also, not reaching other places where (perhaps) is easier developed them. Fortunately, in recent years administrations starting invest on this ideas also.
Continuing on this planning scheme, I added every portrait to a land "portrait", creating couples decided by aesthetic/symbolical rules that often are referred to the work of the artist, explained for each of them. There're not any ranking, people and land are exactly at the same level, almost blend into the same element. They're part of the same landscape.
